Home Health Aide

Job Summary

Primary function is to provide personal healthcare and related services as an extension of nursing or therapy services to the patient/client in his or her place of residence; to assist in providing a safe and clean environment, work cooperatively with the patient/client, caregiver, and family and share observations and problems with the supervisor. Works under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.

Job Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma preferred.

Experience:
At least 18 years old. Must be CNA certified. Proof of current CPR preffered. Minimum 1+ year(s) professional experience.

Skills:
Must be able to read, write, and verbally report clinical information to patients, representatives, and caregivers, as well as to other Agency staff. Demonstrates interest in the welfare of the ill and elderly. Can operate a mobile device and/or computers for signing in/out along with completing notes.

Transportation:
Reliable transportation. Must have a valid in-state driver’s license, provide current registration and insurance.

Criminal History:
Must consent to and pass a criminal history check and employee misconduct registry check.

Environment and Working Conditions

By working in a client’s residence, you may experience various conditions such as exposure to body fluids, infectious diseases, and unpleasant weather. As a home health aide, you must be capable of working in flexible schedules and willing to travel locally.

Physical and Mental Effort

Aides are required to be able to stand and walk for long hours. Ability to work under stressful conditions. An HHA must also have the capability to lift up to 50 pounds and able to move or transfer clients. Hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and ability to use different medical equipment in the home are also necessary for this job.
